2021 B-W Spring Baseball
Greetings Beth - Wood Community :
Our Board of Directors hopes everyone had a wonderful (& safe) Holiday and wants to offer our best wishes for a very Happy & Healthy 2021. We are all so glad to be able to put 2020 behind us !!
SO, WHO WANTS TO PLAY SOME BASEBALL !! As you all know, we unfortunately had to cancel our 2020 Spring season due to the serious outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, which I know devastated many of our younger Players’ dreams who certainly love to play this great game of baseball, and in turn our Board ultimately decided it was not in the League’s best interest to rush into trying to safely play last summer and to wait until the Fall. 2020 Fall Ball was an absolute success and we wish to continue to build on this for the upcoming 2021 Spring season – OUR FIRST PRIORITY IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE SAFETY FOR ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE !!
Well that time has arrived and we are excited to announce that Beth – Wood Baseball League will be offering on – line Registration for Spring Baseball - Tee Ballers through Majors (for children who will be of baseball age 4 – 12 as of April 30, 2021) …
The Registration period for Beth – Wood ball this Spring begins Wednesday, January 6th and ends Monday, February 15th (after which there will be an automatic late fee of $ 25 assessed to each Registrant accordingly, provided there is room on the Teams to accommodate late Registrants). Note that ALL Registrations must be submitted no later than Monday, March 22nd so we may ascertain how many Teams we will have this Spring, have time to conduct Player Screenings, assemble Team Rosters and order uniforms, with a target to begin practicing by the middle of April – games will begin a few weeks shortly thereafter during late April and will run thru the second week in June.
2021 Spring League Registration costs are as follows :
4’s Tee Ball $ 130.00
Tee Ball $ 140.00
Rookies $ 185.00
Minors $ 230.00
Majors $ 230.00
Please click on the link below to register your children for Spring Baseball now (note this link will be LIVE as of January 6th) :
Please note that by agreeing to participate in Spring Baseball, there are specific Health & Safety Guidelines issued by both the State of CT and Babe Ruth League that ALL of us WILL BE REQUIRED to follow … We are therefore attaching a copy of the most current Guidelines (click HERE to download a copy), along with the approved COVID-19 Waiver (click HERE to download a copy) for your advance info and use, that BR Headquarters is requiring that we follow for the 2021 Spring Baseball season, for the time being until restrictions can be potentially relaxed … They are fairly specific in nature and we recommend you all read them very carefully as if / when we do get back onto the fields, we will be required to follow these without exception (written Waivers from EVERYONE, attendance to be taken at every practice / game, limitations for players in dugouts, 6’ social distancing, face masks when not on the field, etc.). Also note there will be no sharing of anyone’s equipment, which includes those who catch (it would be great if you could provide your own equipment). Rest assured, we are going to follow every protocol (and beyond) set forth by the State of CT, recommendations of the CDC and also the Guidelines established by Babe Ruth - however we will need all of your help to make this Spring season a safe and successful one.
NOTE : When registering your children in our 2021 Spring Baseball program, you will be required to acknowledge receipt of these Guidelines & Waiver and agree that you will fully abide by same without exception. Your Registration will be deemed incomplete if this is not acknowledged.
The 2021 Spring program will be as follows :
4’s Instructional Tee Ball – Professional Coach Bill Asermely and his staff from CORE Training Academy will once again be running this program for us (the children will not only learn the basics of this great game of baseball but more importantly have a lot of fun doing so) – these sessions will be held on Wednesdays starting at 5:45 PM on April 28th and ending on or about June 16th (specific details to follow once confirmed)
5’s / 6’s Tee Ball – Will be played every Wednesday starting at 5:45 PM and on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM
*7’s / 8’s Rookies
*9’s / 10’s Minors
*11’s / 12’s Majors
*Note that for these 3 Divisions, there will be three (3) scheduled baseball activities each week (either games and / or practices). Solely depending on our Registration numbers and number of Teams we are able to form in each of these Divisions, Beth - Wood is hopeful we will be able to play inter-League games against each other as we have done in the past. If not, we could therefore reach out to other local Cal Ripken Leagues (i.e., Oxford & Wolcott) so we could possibly assemble a schedule to play inter- league Spring Ball games with them, as we did this past Fall (further details to follow)–
For Amity Babe Ruth Fall Ball (for Players ages 13 – 15 as of April 30, 2021), there will be a separate Registration (details to follow within the next few weeks or so) - if you have any questions pertaining to this program, kindly send us an email so we may promptly address them …
Payment is due immediately upon Registration via a CC. Should refunds be necessary, these will be sent out directly from the League via the CC you used as well (including those who might register late but there are no available roster slots on the Team). However, note that there will be NO refunds approved once your child has been drafted on a Team and uniforms ordered.
In addition, if you are interested in becoming a Coach for the first time and / or are currently a Coach in our League and wish to continue coaching in 2021, please indicate this on the Registration form when you sign up your child(ren) and we will contact you accordingly. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help the children in our program.
FYI, the most current information pertaining to baseball bats that are acceptable for use while playing Cal Ripken (5 – 12) can be found by clicking on the link below :
Also note that Beth – Wood Baseball offers scholarships to those who financially cannot afford to register their children due to economic reasons. Beth – Wood has NEVER EVER turned away any child who wants to learn and play this great game of baseball – for additional information and to learn more about this, please contact B – W President Dwight Rowland directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions - looking forward to an exciting Spring season coming up and most importantly safely getting our children back on to the fields once again to play this great game of baseball. Thank you for your continued support of Beth - Wood Baseball !!
