2020 Fall Baseball

Greetings Beth - Wood Community :

WHO WANTS TO PLAY SOME BASEBALL ?? !!  As you all know, we unfortunately had to cancel our 2020 Spring season due to the serious outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, which I know devastated many of our younger Players’ dreams who certainly love to play this great game of baseball, and in turn our Board ultimately decided it was not in the League’s best interest to rush into trying to safely play this summer and to wait until the Fall – OUR FIRST PRIORITY IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE SAFETY FOR ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIAPTE !!

Well that time has arrived and we are excited to announce that Beth – Wood Baseball League will be offering on – line Registration for Fall Ball - Tee Ballers through Majors (for children who will be of baseball age 5 – 12 as of April 30, 2021).  Example - if your child was a baseball 10 this year, he / she would therefore be eligible and should register to play Majors as a baseball 11 this Fall on a 50/70 diamond…

The Registration period for Beth – Wood Fall Ball begins immediately and ends Friday, July 31st (after which there will be an automatic late fee of $ 25 assessed to each Registrant accordingly, provided there is room on the Teams to accommodate late Registrants).  Note that ALL Registrations must be submitted no later than Friday, July 31st so we may ascertain how many Teams we will have this Fall, have time to assemble those Teams, order uniforms and begin practicing by the middle of August (potentially the week of August 10th) – games will begin a few weeks thereafter during the first week in September and will run thru the end of October

In addition, for those Players who were 12 – years old as of April 30th this year, as they did not have an opportunity to play this Spring (which would have been their final year with Beth – Wood in Cal Ripken), we are hereby offering two (2) separate options for them to consider this Fall.  Normally as a 13 – year old, that Player would be moving up to play 13 Prep with Amity Babe Ruth on a 90’ diamond ; however, due to the COVID-19 virus and that we did not play this Spring, those Players are presented with an option to continue to play Cal Ripken this Fall in Majors.  The options are as follows :

  1. You may register and remain in Cal Ripken on a Majors Team throughout this Fall Ball season - you can do so by clicking the Registration link below … OR
  2. You may register and move up to play 13 Prep with Amity Babe Ruth this Fall on a 90’ diamond (additional details and separate Registration link to follow for this in a few weeks)

Fall Ball League Registration costs are as follows :

Tee Ball $ 110.00

Rookies $ 130.00

Minors $ 175.00

Majors $ 175.00

Please note that by agreeing to participate in Fall Ball, there are specific Health & Safety Guidelines issued by both the State of CT and Babe Ruth League that ALL of us WILL BE REQUIRED to follow …  We are therefore attaching a copy of the most current Guidelines, along with the approved COVID-19 Waiver for your advance info and use, that BR Headquarters is requiring that we follow for the 2020 Fall Ball season…  They are fairly specific in nature and we recommend you all read them very carefully as if / when we do get back onto the fields, we will be required to follow these without exception (written Waivers from EVERYONE, attendance to be taken at every practice / game, limitations for players in dugouts, 6’ social distancing, face masks when not on the field, etc.).  Also note there will be no sharing of anyone’s equipment, which includes those who catch (it would be great if you could provide your own equipment).  Rest assured, we are going to follow every protocol (and beyond) set forth by the State of CT, recommendations of the CDC and also the Guidelines established by Babe Ruth - however we will need all of your help to make this season a safe and successful one.

NOTE :  When registering your children in our 2020 Fall Ball program, you will be required to acknowledge receipt of these Guidelines & Waiver and agree you will fully abide by same without exception.  Your Registration will be deemed incomplete if this is not acknowledged.

Beth – Wood has designated a Board Member to reach out to everyone in our separate League Divisions to clearly communicate and clarify the specific requirements pertaining to the COVID-19 guidelines, travel, etc. for this year’s Fall Ball as it relates to your Division.  They will be reaching out to you in the very near future …  Our Board Members are :

Joel Glassman         Rookies

Ryan Errico               Minors

Jeff Roche                Majors

The 2020 Fall Ball program will be as follows:

5’s / 6’s Tee Ball – Professional Coach Bill Asermely and his staff from CORE Training Academy will once again be running this program for us (the children will not only learn the basics of this great game of baseball but more importantly have a lot of fun doing so) – these will be held on Saturday mornings starting on September 5th and ending on or about October 24th (specific details to follow)

*7’s / 8’s Rookies

*9’s / 10’s Minors

*11’s / 12’s {with possibly 13’s} Majors

*Note that for these 3 Divisions, Beth - Wood has been in discussions with other local Leagues (Oxford, Wolcott, Pomperaug, etc.) so we may play inter- league Fall Ball games with their respective Teams.  Games will be scheduled by our Team Managers in coordination with the other Team Managers - the majority of games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays with a few games possibly during the week (details to follow) –

For Amity Babe Ruth Fall Ball (for Players ages 13 – 15 as of April 30, 2021), there will be a separate Registration (details to follow within the next few weeks or so) - if you have any questions pertaining to this program, kindly send us an email so we may promptly address them …

Payment is due immediately upon Registration via a CC.  Should refunds be necessary, these will be sent out directly from the League via the CC you used as well (including those who might register late but there are no available roster slots on the Team).  However, note that there will be NO refunds approved once your child has been drafted on a Team and uniforms ordered.

FYI, the most current information pertaining to baseball bats that are acceptable for use while playing Cal Ripken (5 – 12) can be founding by clicking on the link below :

Also note that Beth – Wood Baseball offers scholarships to those who financially cannot afford to register their children due to economic reasons. Beth – Wood has NEVER EVER turned away any child who wants to learn and play this great game of baseball – for additional information and to learn more about this, please contact B – W President Dwight Rowland directly at bethwoodpres72@gmail.com

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions - looking forward to an exciting Fall season and most importantly safely getting our children back on to the fields.  Thank you for your continued support of Beth - Wood Baseball !!
